About

10 years in pools.
A simpler way to run one.

A decade servicing pools across Perth and Melbourne, now bringing that experience to Townsville — with the modern service approach the industry's been missing.

Ten years, one trade

Perth & Melbourne trained. Now on Townsville pool decks.

I've spent the last 10+ years servicing pools across Perth and Melbourne — weekly maintenance routes, green pool rescues, equipment installs, and every strange, stubborn, rust-seized, filter-clogged, "I-swear-it-was-fine-yesterday" problem a residential pool can throw at you.

You see every variation of every problem eventually. You learn which shortcuts are fine and which ones cost someone a $3,000 pump 18 months later. You develop strong opinions about how water chemistry should be managed, how service routes should be scheduled, and how clients should be treated.

That experience is what I'm bringing to Townsville. Same hands, same standard — new climate, new state, same obsession with getting it right.

What that means for you

You're not paying a new operator to learn on your pool. The diagnostics are sharp, the fixes are right the first time, and the chemistry advice actually comes from a decade of data.

The name

Why "Tico"?

My partner is a Tica — that's what Costa Ricans call themselves. Tico for the men, Tica for the women. It's a term of pride, family, and belonging over there.

Along with the name comes a phrase you hear twenty times a day in Costa Rica: Pura Vida. Pure life. It's their version of "she'll be right" — except it's not lazy, it's intentional. Pura Vida means looking after what matters, being present with the people in front of you, and not overcomplicating what doesn't need complicating.

That's the standard I want to run this business to. You shouldn't have to fight with your pool to enjoy your weekend. You shouldn't have to chase a tradie for a call-back. You shouldn't need a degree in pool chemistry to trust the person servicing your water. That's the deal.

Pura Vida — the Costa Rican philosophy behind Tico Pools

Pura Vida, pool care.

"If it's not Pura Vida for the client, it's not Pura Vida for us. Simple rule."

Why I'm doing this

The industry's been coasting. I think Townsville deserves better.

Ten years in the trade gives you a clear view of where the industry gets lazy. Quotes that take a week. Websites and systems that were built decades ago. Techs who show up when they feel like it, or not at all. "We'll get back to you" translated to "we won't". It's not hard to do better — it just requires caring about the customer experience at the same level as the water chemistry.

That's the gap Tico's filling. Perth and Melbourne taught me the trade. Costa Rica gave us the philosophy. Townsville gets the result.

The climate makes pools non-optional most of the year up here, and the existing options haven't modernised. My job is to be the service you'd actually recommend to a mate.

What we stand for

Six things I won't compromise on.

The same person, every visit.

You'll know me by name. No rotating subbies, no "a different tech this week", no "let me check who was last on your pool".

Transparent quotes.

One clear service fee, written down. Chemicals itemised at cost every visit — you see every dose. Specialty work quoted separately, always approved before we apply it.

Turn up when we say we will.

Scheduled day. On-time. If the calendar changes, we tell you first — not after. And if we drop the ball, the next clean's on us.

Answer the phone.

If I can't pick up, I'll call back same day. Text works too. No ghosting, no voicemail graveyards.

Do it like it's our own pool.

Honest advice, even if it means less revenue for us. Fix-first, replace-only-if-needed. Not every problem needs a new pump.

Properly set up.

Public liability insurance. Correct chemical handling and storage. Compliant with pool-safe operating standards. Boring but essential.

The road ahead

Small now. Better tomorrow.

Right now it's just me, a van, and ten years of calibrated know-how. That's deliberate — I want to deliver something genuinely good before I scale it. Founding clients get the benefit: direct access to the owner, pricing locked in, service dialled to them.

Longer term, we're building our own service app — think ServiceM8 but designed by someone who actually does the work. Real-time updates, one-tap bookings, clear records of what was done and why. It's being built in parallel and will roll out to clients as it's ready.

If you sign up now, you're not a beta tester — the service is dialled from day one. You're just getting in at the start, at the best price, with a decade of experience on your pool deck.
